Valentines For Vets Dinner
Name:
Valentines For Vets Dinner
Date:
February 13, 2012
Time:
5:30 PM - 7:00 PM CST
Event Description:
The Ava Lions Club is hosting the annual Valentine for Vets appreciation dinner honoring all combat veterans for their service to our country. Veterans do not have to be a member of the Lions Club or the VFW, however they must be VFW eligible, which means they have served in a combat theatre.
Last year the Lions honored 26 WWII veterans. This year the appreciation dinner is open to veterans of all combat theatres from WWII, Korea, Viet Nam and all other operations including the Middle East theatre.
Veterans are welcome to bring a spouse or family member to celebrate this occasion. There is no charge for this event. It is the Lion’s way of saying "thank you" to our local veterans.
Veterans and guests will be served a salad, entree and dessert and drink. Then they will be treated to after dinner music by the award winning group, Bob Hammonds and Wildwood.
Dinner will be served by the Lions members and 4H volunteers. All veterans in attendance will receive a shoebox valentine filled with numerous items and candy. All veterans living at the Heart of the Hills nursing home will also have shoe boxes delivered. Any remaining valentines will be taken to the Veterans Nursing home in Mt Vernon. The Lions offered the dinner for the first time, with the recommendation of Delaney Sweeney. Last year over 500 valentine packages were delivered to local veterans.
Please contact Larry Morrison, 683-0188 or 417-849-1875, if you are a Veteran and plan to attend. Thank you for your service to our country. Ava Lions - We Serve
